In Mozambique, registering a trade mark doesn’t require you to use it immediately. However, after 5 years, you must submit a Declaration of Intention to Use (DIU) to maintain your trade mark rights! 📅

Why is this important?

If you fail to submit the DIU, a third party can request the cancellation of your trade mark. ⚖️ The Trade Mark Office may even cancel it without notifying you, leaving you shocked to find your trade mark removed from the official register. Worst case, you could face legal actions for using a trade mark that isn’t yours!
